to know me is to know that i love animals especially my cats beatrice and hank. my husband and i adopted them a few years ago from the local aspca and our vet, dr. paiva, is sometimes a guest on the animal planet's animal rescue show. from the day they moved into our apartment on 93rd street i've been spoiling them which is really something that doesn't surprise me or others who know me well.
i've spoiled them in so many ways that my husband worries that when we have children one day i'll be a lax parent who lets her children do anything. that might be the case and i might need to address that on another post, but that's not the point.:)
how do i spoil them you might ask?
they sleep in bed with us under the covers in the winter. they sleep side by side spooning each other butt to butt, front to front as well as other combinations of slumber and sometimes end up sleeping on my head.
i've bought them a gajillion toys. i've purchased toys they didn't like on sites like trixie and peanut as well as toys that they love so much that they sleep with them each night like little children sleeping with their teddy bears. I've sprayed cat nip all over my house and let them play with feather wands (even when it's midnight and time for humans to go to sleep). i have let them play with toys made out of ordinary objects like the normal twist ties, paper bags and boxes, headbands, rubberbands and even plastic bags...so yes this is how i spoil my cats.
i don't know when it started, it was probably pretty early on, but in addition to letting beatrice and hank sleep anywhere, play with anything and own the house, I also started giving them snacks.
it was a little snack here, a little snack they but i guess they started to add up. living in a small apartment in nyc doesn't help either. before i knew it instead of living with the 2 small little kittens i had adopted from the aspca, i was living with 2 fat cats and i realized something...
my cats are too fat...
